Describe which movements are possible

Say which wheels are locked, whether the steering works and whether the car can be braked. Explain if the problem is known or has not been diagnosed. Mention missing keys, damaged suspension, low clearance and loose components.

Photos should help identify the vehicle's condition and the loading space. Do not describe the car simply as “non-running” when you know that it cannot roll or steer.

Collection access

The coordinator needs to know whether the vehicle is in an open parking area, on a narrow driveway or in another restricted place. Explain access to both sides and any height or ground-surface restriction you already know about. Do not attempt risky movement merely to make collection easier.

Agree equipment at both ends

The loading and unloading method needs to be appropriate for the condition. We assess suitable transport and handling; no particular technique is guaranteed by this article. Tell the receiving person that the vehicle may not be able to drive or roll off normally.

Quote and timing

Handling requirements can affect the arrangement and quote. A standard distance rate is not confirmation that special recovery or handling is included. Confirm the scope before booking, and tell the coordinator if the condition changes after the first assessment.

Choose local or international service

For a current breakdown, open vehicle recovery. For a planned cross-border journey, use non-running car transport. Have the collection point, destination, make and model, condition and preferred dates ready.
